Mathieu Matégot (1910-2001) was a Hungarian-born French designer, architect and artist, celebrated as one of the leading figures of French design in the 1950s. He is best known for inventing “rigitulle,” a technique combining perforated sheet metal with tubular metal that gave his furniture a light, lace-like quality. His pieces, including icons such as the Nagasaki chair, remain highly sought after today.
