A sculptural sofa by French designer and decorator Robert Thibier, upholstered in beige Alcantara with a distinctive “belted” cushion construction and tufted rosette buttons. Original fabric, with signs of wear consistent with age and use. Thibier was known for his high-end, often limited-series furniture combining gilded or painted metal frames with warm, richly upholstered forms.

About the designer
Robert Thibier (1926–2001) was a French designer and decorator whose creations were shown at his Parisian showroom on rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. Through the 1960s and 70s, he produced high-end, often limited and numbered furniture, frequently combining wrought or gilded metal with glass or marble tops and richly upholstered seating.
