About the designer
Raymond Loewy (1893-1986) was a French-born American industrial designer, widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of the profession. After moving to the United States in 1919, he became famous for streamlining everyday objects — from locomotives and cars to household appliances and packaging — under his philosophy of “Most Advanced, Yet Acceptable.” He worked with over 200 companies, shaping some of the most iconic designs of the 20th century, including the Studebaker Starliner and the Lucky Strike pack.
